The Planting, The Place, and the Results

I spent most of my morning doing detective work.  I pulled out an old botany text-book from my time in college and found some interesting clues. Clues in determining the hows and whys of seed germination. I found three essential elements to their success; moisture, soil temperature and light. My conclusions finalized, I found seed that enters the soil, helps determine the rate of germination.  How the seed was planted… determined the results. After researching the details of germinating seed, the Holy Spirit gave me understanding of how this pertains to WORD SEED; the SEED that’s planted in the heart soil; soul and spirit will germinate.

There are three entry points to our hearts that WORD SEED can take root and germinate.  Our EYES, our EARS and out MOUTHS.  Good SEED and bad SEED are introduced the same way.  There are many varieties of seeds that we can take in. FEAR SEED, LUST SEED, ANGER SEED and many other bad seeds.  Proverbs 4:23 says “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.”  You have probably heard the saying, “garbage in, garbage out”. The same principle can be applied when it comes to planting bad seed. How then, do we prevent ourselves from planting the wrong seed?  Remember the THREE ENTRY POINTS in our everyday lives. By recognizing how the SEED gets in us, and knowing how to get it out is the real issue.

The entertainment industry is one very effective tool the enemy constantly uses to influence the general public. FEAR, SEXUAL LUST, and a host of other negative emotions are easily deposited in our HEART SOIL through movies, television programs and music. In addition, friends and associates also influence our mind-sets, habits, and behavior. It doesn’t matter how old you are; anyone can plant bad SEED if certain WORDS and IMAGES are allowed into the heart. The enemy does not want the power of God to work for us, in us, or through us; and Satan knows BAD SEED (emotions) will absolutely short-circuit that power. James 1:14 says, “But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, fear, anger, passions).”  The verse says “every person” not ‘some people’.  Verse 15 continues and says, “Then the evil desire, when it is conceived”; when the seed has been planted, “gives birth”; the SEED has germinated inside of us, bringing forth the fruit of, “death”.  This verse in James is talking about the inner man’s death. This visualizes, “seedtime and harvest” in Genesis 8 to its conclusion.

In finality, we have to guard our eye-gate, our ear-gate and our mouth-gate against receiving BAD SEED into our hearts. The GOOD SEEDS come from God’s Word, meditating on it day and night. Doing so will produce good fruit! Bad SEED will produce BAD FRUIT. “Garbage in, garbage out”. That’s it in a nut shell.

Creflo Dollar wrote a book sometime ago that refers to the “STEPS TO OUR DESTINATION”.  I am going to modify his suggestions to fit in with our good seed/bad seed planting.

—You determine your SEED from God’s Word

—Your word seed determines your THINKING

—Your THINKING determines your EMOTIONS

—Your EMOTIONS determine your DECISIONS

—Your DECISIONS determine your ACTIONS

—Your ACTIONS determine your HABIT

—Your HABITS determine your CHARACTER

—Your CHARACTER determines your DESTINATION

If you find yourself at the wrong destination, change your words. Wrong WORD SEED produces WRONG THINKING and WRONG THINKING produces WRONG EMOTIONS and so forth. You will eventually find yourself at the WRONG DESTINATION.

Several days ago, we talk about  the FEAR emotion. Timothy 2:7 told  that if we have planted the FEAR seed, it didn’t come from God. He goes on to tell us in that God has given us the SEED gift of “POWER and of LOVE and of a CALM and WELL-BALANCED MIND and DISCIPLINE and SELF-CONTROL” Our faith is the perfect antidote to FEAR SEED. Claim this verse when guarding your eye-gate, ear-gate and mouth-gate against the temptations that surround us. Stay in God’s Light, for SEED cannot grow without a light source. John 1:9 says, “There it was—the true LIGHT [was then] coming into the world [the genuine, perfect, steadfast LIGHT] that illuminates every person.”  That the seed we have planted inside of us will be drawn to the LIGHT.
